2024 is over. Let’s say goodbye

2024 was a pretty big year for me. After unknowingly suffering the sedative side effects of a medication I was on for three years, a medication change brought back my motivation and got me started on projects that I had left far behind and mostly forgotten. I started socializing again and met amazing friends, and then I started reaching out and rediscovering some of my passions.

2024 was the year of crochet

I finished a lot of projects in 2024. A lot. I started getting back into it with simple bags and the goal of reaching 12 projects by the end of the year, so that I could look back at my accomplishments and be content with reaching my monthly completed project goal. Instead that was blown out of the water and I started playing with wearables and plushies, things I’d never really considered making before but found a lot of fun in this year.

Back into Destiny

I also got back into Destiny 2 after a friend reached out to me during a rare day that I streamed. He mentioned that they had almost enough active people for two raid groups at a time, and that the final expansion was going to be coming out to wrap up the story. A bit of gentle nudging later, and I jumped back into Destiny with the intention of being a more casual player than I had been previously.

Casual left the building almost immediately. I met amazing new friends, I started streaming again, I started raiding, I participated in the contest mode for Vesper’s Host, I went pretty hard with content and found myself genuinely falling in love with the game again, and finding a drive to be better that I’d never had before. I’ve done more GMs, I’ve done solo dungeons, I’ve done trio raids, and I’m getting ready to complete the next contest mode dungeon that releases on February 7.

In conjunction with getting back into D2, I also got back into streaming. I’ll save you the Twitch Recap 2024, but in 2024 I’ve met fellow streamers on Twitch, Threads, and Bluesky, I’ve gained 138 followers, I’ve streamed for 455 hours (not including the stream I’m starting in just under 2 hours), and I’ve found wonderful artists to help with content creation and a badger vtuber.

I also started crocheting on stream, and was recently accepted into the Twitch Creator Club for Artists and Makers, which is huge. Still not sure if I’ll make it onto the stream team, but the growth has been crazy to watch and has felt so validating with all of the work I’ve put into the streams, and the tiny community that’s grown around me.

The most recent addition to the stream is Extra Life, a fundraising organization for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, and I managed to fundraise for them in the last few months of the year. I raised almost $400, and I’m eager to see what happens when I have a full year to dedicate to raising money for my local children’s hospital.

So what’s happening in 2025?

To be determined! Ish! We have a few events coming up, including fundraising for Bungie’s Game2Give through Tiltify, and also some real life trips! We’re hitting NETASPA in Freeport, Maine; PAX East in Boston; The Maine Fiber Frolic in Windsor, Maine; the Fiber Festival of New England in Springfield, Massachusetts; and potentially PortConMaine in Portland, Maine. And who knows where else I’ll go. I’ll have more details on the when and the what later (each event will be attended either carrying or wearing something handmade), but for now, I’m just going to enjoy the end of the year.
