Blog

It’s been a minute. My drafts folder is full, my site is… not.

I’ve been away. Kind of. I choose to use this space for more… useful content, over idle rambling and planning, but I sometimes I feel like I’m not providing enough worth. Which is a silly thing to think, on a website that I own and create all the content for, with an undefined target audience and a mishmash of topics that have little relevance to each other.

I have that problem a lot. I’ve gone through 3 planner formats this month because I couldn’t decide what purpose each planner was supposed to serve, until I finally put away the second and third planners and went back to the first. I was doing a daily journal, until I decided that what I really needed was a notebook, and then I went between my journal and my midori notebook for a few weeks until I went back to the midori and shelved the journal. I make a decision, then I second- and triple-guess myself and my intentions, and basically I’m not sure what I want.

So this might last a couple weeks before I disappear into the void, only appearing to offer Vtuber Studio or crochet pattern posts once every seven months.

But I have decided, over the course of a few days, to touch base once in a while. Maybe every Thursday. Or every other Thursday. Which is why I’m making this post on a Friday. I’m chronically late.

I’d like to use this space as both a helpful resource, and also a place to just get my plans or thoughts down on digital paper. I have a lot of plans, and writing them out gives me a better opportunity to process the steps that I need to follow to complete those plans. And also I just like to write. I’ll also use it as a place to list out updates that I’ve done on the website (and in my community) that, if you haven’t been here since the last post…. Well, we’ve had some updates.

So let’s get into that.

The site has had some changes. Useful posts, patterns, instructional posts, travel posts are all in dropdown menus on the top of the page. If a post doesn’t have real importance or longevity, it’s just going to be categorized as “Blog” and people can access the post that way. I’m trying to set up an aesthetically pleasing home page with a carousel, but the plugins I use keep breaking, so. That’s being worked on.

I no longer have a link to an external commission tracker and application. I did a lot of commissions in a very short amount of time, and I realized that I really dislike commissions. They’re not for me. I like doing projects on my own time, without a due date, and whenever I feel like picking up my hooks or needles. Commissions don’t really allow me the freedom to do what I want when I want, and honestly I got really burned out on yarn things while I was doing them. So that option is gone, and anything commission-related is purely word of mouth now. In its place, we have external links to my affiliate links to Lion Brand Yarn and Premier Yarn. I get commission for sales, so if you have a need, feel free to use my links! I love Lion Brand to pieces, and Premier Yarn is where I get all my plushie yarn from at this time, so they are brands that I do actually use.

I got an iPad! Art.Semsational.GG is now a thing! Link is under the blog category above. It’s a fun new hobby that I’m returning to, and I’m eager to see my improvement over time.

This is where I look at upcoming events and posts

See header.

So I have a lot of drafts waiting for publication. They all need either more testing, or more pictures, or more refining, but I am intending on publishing them this year.

  • A crochet/intro to crochet resource post
    • Will touch on tools, materials, pattern sources
  • Learn to read crochet patterns!
    • A pattern (or two) designed to introduce people to typical online pattern setup and terminology, and help them understand how to read patterns
      • I’m unsure if I will get into chart usage
  • Various Vtuber Studio + Streamer.bot tutorials
  • How I stream crochet, a resource for people that want to start streaming their crafts
  • A crochet pattern for a Shank from Destiny 2
  • A setup overview – what I have, where I got it, maybe some short reviews on some of my hardware

I also have some events coming up this year, and will be making posts about those events, including the prep I’ll be doing before I go.

  • Fiber Witch Festival
    • Post about the tech I’ll be taking with me, things I’ll be packing, what I’m prepping/making before I go
  • Maine Fiber Frolic
  • Fiber Festival of New England
    • Post about the tech I’ll be taking with me, set up
  • Visiting Fort Knox in Maine
  • Tech overview – what I use on my drives, what I use for my editing, my hardware and software, my car

I’m also looking far ahead at 2027. I’ll be attending PAX East once again, I’ll probably pass on the Fiber Witch Festival that year since they’re close together. 2028 will hopefully be a Counter-Strike Major. 2029 will probably be Rhinebeck.

What else for updates… I think that’s mostly it! I have vlog plans, and those will probably be Thursday youtube uploads to coincide with Thursday update/blog posts here. I’m currently working on a plushie for a shank from Destiny 2, and if you like crochet and Destiny 2, feel free to reach out on discord (sems) or bluesky because I’d like to release the FREE pattern next week, and I would appreciate testers. Or if you’re just interested in getting the pattern once it’s released, keep an eye on this/that/those space(s).
